The South Korean government has declared a 7-day national mourning period until Jan 4 following the plane crash at Muan International Airport on Dec 29. Most of the New Year's Eve countdown ceremonies and shows on Dec 31 have been canceled or adjusted.

Shows and performances have been canceled, but the bell-ringing ceremony will still take place.

The ceremony will proceed, but with minimal sound effects and less celebratory atmosphere.
โข Lotte World Tower
The countdown ceremony has been canceled. Instead, lights will be displayed from 5:30 PM to 10 PM until Jan 4 to show support and condolences.

The countdown video will be played without any sound effect.
โข Myeongdong Square
The 2025 LIGHT NOW show, originally scheduled to be displayed on the walls of Shinsegae Department Store, has been canceled.

Every year, at midnight from December 31 to January 1, the bell at Bosingak Pavilion is rung 33 times to welcome the new year. This year, the event will feature an art installation called the Midnight Sun, accompanied by sound art and media performances. LED wristbands will be handed out to the crowd, creating a breathtaking visual spectacle!
