Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)
동대문 디자인 플라자
Large-scale complex cultural space where exhibitions and fashion shows take place
The biggest atypical structure in the world, completed in 2014, stands out due to its unusual size and curved exterior, which is suggestive of a UFO. The annual "Seoul Light" festival takes place at night, illuminating the whole structure with colorful lights to create a fascinating night view and projecting a message of hope and healing onto the building's exterior. As a major cultural hub in Seoul, it hosts a wide range of exhibits and fashion shows including video and light installations, as well as stores selling designer goods, restaurants, and rest areas.
