Seoul is an excellent day trip destination due to its excellent public transportation connections to nearby cities. Don't let these opportunities pass you by. Here are some simple ways to get to Gapyeong, Suwon, and Incheon, all of which are only about an hour's drive from Seoul.

How to get to Gapyeong

Gapyeong is a northwestern suburb of Seoul. It is a little further away than other suburbs, but it is easily accessible by various modes of transportation. You can get there by subway or train, with the train being the more convenient option.

Train

ITX is the train that takes you to Gapyeong. You can board the train at Yongsan or Cheongnyangni stations and exit at Gapyeong. The ticket can be purchased at the station or in advance on the Korail website.

Subway

The Seoul Metropolitan Subway Gyeongchun Line is a route that connects to Gapyeong. The starting station is Cheongnyangni Station. It takes longer than taking the train but is less expensive. If you want to enjoy the scenery along the way, taking the subway is recommended.

How to get to Suwon

Suwon is a suburban city located west of Seoul. Because many people commute from Suwon to Seoul, there are numerous ways to get to Suwon. The train has the most frequent and fastest service among them, so taking the train is recommended.

Train

Trains to Suwon Station run every hour or so, including the Saemaeul-ho Fleet and the Mugunghwa-ho Fleet. The trains can be boarded at Seoul Station or Yongsan Station, and tickets can be purchased in advance on the website or on the spot.

Subway

You can get off at Suwon Station by taking Line 1 or the Suin-Bundang Line. The main boarding stations for Line 1 are Seoul Station and Yongsan Station, while the main boarding stations for the Suin-Bundang Line are Seolleung Station and Wangsimni Station.

For Line 1, it's important to make sure you board the train bound for Suwon, as trains bound for other suburban areas also operate.

Red Bus

You can get to Suwon by taking the red metropolitan bus. Taking the bus is convenient because you can get off near major tourist attractions in Suwon. Jamsil, Gangnam, and Sadang are the main boarding points.

How to get to Incheon

Incheon is a suburban city located to the east of Seoul. Because of the airport in Incheon, public transportation is easily accessible. Because the Incheon Bus Terminal is quite far from major tourist attractions, subways are preferred over buses.

Subway

The Airport Railroad is the primary link between Incheon Airport and Seoul. However, because Incheon Airport and major tourist attractions in Incheon are quite far apart, Line 1 is preferred over the Airport Railroad.

If you are traveling to Songdo, Incheon, it is recommended to use the Incheon Subway Line 1.
