Gupo Market

This historic market is a continuation of the 'Gupojang' market that began in the middle of the Joseon Dynasty. It was transformed into a permanent market in 1972, but the market becomes fuller with things to see on days that end with 3 or 8, when the fifth-day market is open. The market is the origin of the famous Gupo noodles and Gupojang Gukbap (hot soup with rice), which were once enjoyed by Korean War refugees. You will find a variety of foods and ingredients such as Kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), Gukbap(hot soup with rice), Tteokbokki (spicy rice cake), and Kkwabaegi (twisted donut).
