In 1960, an ailing scholar prayed for a hundred days to be cured, and after drinking medicinal water in a dream, he was healed and built a temple near the spring, which he named Yakcheonsa Temple. Daejeokgwangjeon (the Hall of Ultimate Silence and Light), the largest Dharma hall in the East, was completed and became popular in 1996.
