Dongmyo Shrine
동묘
Pay homage to General Guan Yu at this historic Joseon Dynasty shrine
This shrine was constructed in the 1600s to commemorate the Chinese general Guan Yu. When you enter the main hall, you'll notice a golden statue of Guan Yu standing 2.5 meters tall, guarded by four sword-wielding bodyguards. The ceiling also has Chinese-style architecture, with crane patterns and gold writing against a red background.
You can take a leisurely stroll through Dongmyo Park to see the statues and monuments or sit in the shade under the trees to relax. The Dongmyo Flea Market, located directly outside, sells a wide range of items at reasonable prices, including clothing, shoes, wallets, watches, old books, documents, electronics, and more.
