Witness a traditional ritual held in front of Sungnyemun Gate blending old and new elements
The event takes place at Sungnyemun Gate, the city gate designated as Korea's No. 1 National Treasure. The ceremony is a vivid recreation of the "guard ritual" that was used to defend the city during the Joseon Dynasty, and it includes the "opening and closing ritual," which is performed in traditional costumes, as well as the "Sunra ritual," which is identical to current patrols. You can conclude your day with traditional performances during the day and a view of Sungnyemun Gate at night.
