Gapado Island
가파도
Visit an island with vast green fields and dolmen ruins
Intriguing island with beautiful natural and cultural sites
It is the fourth largest of Jeju's islands and looks like a stingray. There are several theories about the island's name, including the possibility that it was named after its resemblance to a stingray and was previously known as 'Gaedo' because it resembled a cover. You can see ruins like shell mounds, menhirs, and dolmens, and because the island is mostly flat and has no steep hills, you can walk around it in 1-2 hours. Every year in early April, the Gapado Green Barley Field hosts the 'Gapado Green Barley Festival,' which includes a variety of activities such as walking through the green barley field and building stone towers, so plan your visit accordingly.
