In Seoul, there are Incheon International Airport (T1, T2) and Gimpo International Airport. Terminal 1 of Incheon International Airport is approximately 20 minutes by car from Terminal 2. It may be difficult to travel on foot if you arrive at the wrong terminal, so double-check your departure airport and terminal ahead of time.
Essential information before departing
Mobile check-in
Depending on the airline, web/mobile check-in may be available in advance. Generally, you can check in from 48 hours to 1 hour before departure, but check the regulations as they may vary depending on the airline.
Arrival at the Airport
To get to the airport, you can take the Airport Railroad, Airport Limousines, or taxis. It takes about an hour to get from downtown Seoul to Incheon International Airport, so leave early.

Tax refund
If you make a purchase of 30,000 won or more and leave within 30 days, you can get a tax refund at stores with the "tax-free" sign. You will need your passport, purchase receipt, and VAT refund document to receive your refund. Refunds are available at airport counters and kiosks.
Useful tips!
VAT refund documents must be requested from the store at the time of purchase. (A passport is required.) You will not be able to receive a refund unless you have it.

Boarding procedure
Check-in
When you arrive at the departure floor, use the flight information display monitor to check the check-in counters. Declare at the customs declaration counter before checking in your baggage if a customs declaration is required.
Self check-in
Self-service check-in is available at airport kiosks by selecting your airline. However, usage may be restricted due to visa or document verification issues.

Security check
After checking in, you will be subjected to security screening before proceeding to the departure gate. Small knives, scissors, flammable items, liquids larger than 100 mL, sprays, and gel-type items are not permitted on board.

Immigration
Automated immigration
Foreigners aged 17 and older can go through automated immigration without prior registration. The screening process is very simple and is conducted according to the voice prompt.
Immigration in person
Present your passport to the immigration officer after waiting in line. Remove your hat and sunglasses while you wait. If necessary, the immigration officer may also inspect your boarding pass.

Duty-free shopping
You will enter the duty-free shopping area after passing through immigration. Luxury goods, cosmetics, and alcohol are available here. Terminal 1 of Incheon International Airport has the largest duty-free shopping area.

Lounge
If you have some free time, check out the lounges. Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 has eight lounges (one of which is temporarily closed), Terminal 2 has four lounges, and Gimpo International Airport has three lounges (one of which is temporarily closed).

Boarding an airplane
Passengers at Incheon International Airport T1 may need to proceed to the boarding hall depending on their boarding gate number. Arrive 30 to 40 minutes before departure to ensure a comfortable boarding experience.
