When scrolling through social media, it can be overwhelming to sift through the flood of restaurant recommendations and decide where to go. So, we went straight to the source and asked the locals: "Where do Busan locals go to eat?"
Here, we present the 'real' favorite spots, as revealed by Busan natives themselves.

① Daejeong Yang Gopchang Main Building
"Every time I visit Nampo-dong, I head to this spot. It's well-known among locals, but the atmosphere of the outdoor tables at sunset is unmatched. I recommend the seasoned Gopchang and fried rice combo. Don't miss out on the Gopchang Jeongol for the perfect finish!"

② Chophilsal Dwaeji-gui (Gwangan)
"A popular spot in Haeundae known for its long waits! It's great to see a spacious and comfortable location in Gwangalli. The perfectly grilled pork skins automatically call for an order of Daesun Soju. The addition of salted pollack roe as a side dish is unique, and when paired with the pork skins, it’s a taste of heaven."

③ Chowon Bokguk
"If you need a hangover cure, head here. I usually go for the Jiri over the Maeuntang because I can never get enough of the clean and refreshing broth. The basic side dishes are nice, and the deep-fried pufferfish, which I often order, is a special treat!"

① Dari Zip (Main Branch)
"I've been coming here with friends since school days, wearing our uniforms. Although it’s become very famous after appearing on TV, it’s a place full of memories, so I often come back for Tteokbokki and squid tempura. The thick rice cakes with their chewy texture are a highlight here, and I highly recommend pairing them with the squid tempura."

② Monsieur Vincent
"Known as 'Breadcheon-dong,' Namcheon-dong is a hot spot for 'bread pilgrimages.' My top pick is Monsieur Vincent! Their breads offer the perfect 'crisp on the outside, moist on the inside' experience. Be sure to try the 'Baton' bread—it has a delightful nutty flavor that intensifies with each bite."

③ Takedaya
"Located near Gwangalli Beach, this place is run by a true ‘udon artisan.’ The noodles made here are wonderfully chewy and springy. The bukkake udon is the most popular and is my personal recommendation. In the summer, the salty and refreshing cold udon is also a great choice."

My personal favorite spots revealed
① Samsam Hoetjip
“This seafood restaurant is a hit with even the locals in my family. The side dishes are simple, but the sashimi, including seabream, halibut, and bass, is fresh and substantial. The sea bream yubiki is particularly renowned, and ordering the plate rice allows you to make your own sushi. I highly recommend it if you're craving high-quality sashimi!”

② Kim Yusun Daegubboljjim
"Mom loves this place, so we sometimes do takeout. It’s always busy, but the 2nd-floor annex provides plenty of seating. The chewy cod is delicious, and the red onion sauce piled high on bean sprouts is a real rice thief. Finishing with some noodles mixed in is a sweet treat!”

① Gukje Milmyeon (Main Branch)
“Located near Busan National University of Education, this Milmyeon spot is known for its rich, flavorful sauce. I usually order the Bibim Milmyeon and halfway through, I add the self-serve cold broth to turn it into Mul Milmyeon. The sweet and tangy flavor with a hint of nuttiness never fails to impress, especially with out-of-town friends.”

② Hapcheon Illyu Dwaeji-gukbap (Main Branch)
“There’s a reason why this place is always bustling. If you’re unsure where to go for Dwaeji-gukbap, this is the spot to choose. The broth is clear and refreshing, making it a great option even for newcomers. The minced seasoning and garlic sauce blend perfectly when mixed with the soup. Plus, the unlimited rice refills are a major bonus!”

③ Gijang Son-kalguksu
“From the exterior, you can tell it's a top-notch eatery. All Kalguksu are priced at just ₩5,000, making it a great deal. The generous toppings of garlic, cucumber, and crown daisy are truly appealing. In the summer, the cold noodles with slushy ice are a refreshing option. Plus, you can easily add a roll of Gimbap for just ₩1,500.”
